The Vankatram Learning Centre, the Central Library of Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, stands out as one of the premier libraries in this region, excelling in scholarly and rare resources, user-centric services, best practices, technology, architecture, infrastructure, facilities, size, and green concepts. The library, overseen by a qualified librarian and a team of Library Information Professionals, is fully automated using KOHA, incorporating RFID technology, barcode technology, and self-issue/return kiosks. The technological highlights include the GSDL Digital Library and the Intranet Library Website.
Spanning 55,000 square feet, the Wi-Fi-enabled Central Library provides a centrally air-conditioned environment, fulfilling the information and knowledge needs of users with a vast collection. It boasts 82,141 books, numerous journals and magazines in both print and digital formats, 12,742 CDs/DVDs/VCDs, 4,666 back volumes, and rare resources like Palm Leaves of Tamil Literature, special books, and back volumes.
The library is meticulous in continuously expanding its resources across all disciplines. A significant portion of the collection comprises international authors’ reference books, with multiple copies of textbooks prescribed in the syllabus available for student circulation. Reference books are lent out through an Overnight Issues System, while the library also circulates journals/magazines and CDs/DVDs/VCDs.
In addition to textbooks and reference materials, the library offers valuable resources such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, thesauri, yearbooks, handbooks, standards, and manuscripts. Well-utilized by both faculty members and students, the library accommodates around 1000 users daily.
Acquisitions are made based on faculty and student recommendations through recommendation forms. As a member of the Indian Access Management Federation (INFED) of INFLIBNET, an autonomous Inter University Centre of UGC, the library disseminates e-resources, including Science Direct Journals, Science Direct E-Books, Scopus Citation Database, Proquest ABI/INFORM Collection, and DELNET database, to students, faculty members, and researchers on and off the campus through the Shibboleth software for remote access.
The Library is headed by Dr. S. A. Fazlur Rahiman, who has been awarded with the title of “Tamil Nadu Best Young Librarian” by the Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Services and National Level Best Librarian award by Madras Library Association (MALA). He has been conducting various programs at International and National Levels for the benefit of the students, faculty, librarians and society at large.

Rules and Regulation
- Faculty / Students must enter their Entry and Exit in the Electronic Gate Register compulsorily
- Faculty/Students should use Web OPAC for searches and self Issue and Return Kiosk for Circulation of books.
- Staff / Students must bring their identity cards whenever using Library
- Students should return their borrowed books within 15 days
- Faculty Members should return their borrowed books within 90 days
- Books which are issued under Over Night Issues have to be Returned at 10:00 A.M on the next day and 11:30 A.M on Holidays
- Walk and Talk softly inside the Library
- The readers should not mark or write upon any books. They will be held responsible for any damage done to the book
The Central Library has a rare and special collection of 6012 resources that include Rare Palm Leaves, Special books collections such as Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Thesaurus, Year Books, Hand Books, Standards, Manuscripts and back volumes.

User Education Program
- The Library conducts User Education program / Information Literacy program to the first year students.
- Through this program the library help the students to understand the library services, facility and ensure the maximum possible usage. They are also trained in using the IT enabled services and online resources.
- As a MOTIVATIONAL FACTOR the library has been recognizing the students with BEST LIBRARY USER AWARDS TO STUDENTS AND FACULTY EVERY YEAR.

- Periodical Subscription: Periodical Subscription is initiated through “Periodical Recommendation Form”
- Periodical Usage: “Periodical Utility Form” Is pasted behind cover page of each periodical to know the usage of periodical section. Every user who read the periodical should sign the form.
- Reference Books on Over Night Issue: Reference books- overnight issue is initiated through “Over Night Issue Requisition Form”
- Remote Access: The e- resources that are subscribed by the Library and Web OPAC can be accessed Anywhere at Any time by Students/Faculty members

Implementation of RFID Technology and KOHA International Standard Software with Biometrics Technology
RFID Technology was implemented with KOHA – a total library solutions software on International standards with Biometrics Technology during January 2023. The technology includes Remote Access of library Web OPAC which can be accessed Anywhere and at Anytime On and Off the Campus in Desktops, Laptops, and Mobile phones of faculty members and students.
